With C.L.R.
Indicator
the specific density of milk is measured. At 15
degrees Celsius, the normal density of the milk ranges
from 1.028 to 1.033 g/ml, whereas water has a density of
1.0 g/ml. So when you read the C.L.R. Indicator, you can
determine whether water has been added to the milk.
It
is best to combine the C.L.R. Indicator reading with the
fat test to determine whether the milk is skimmed or
not. You can use the C.L.R. Indicator reading together
with the fat percentage to estimate the Solids Non Fat
(SNF) content of the milk .
Always
read the temperature of the milk first the C.L.R.
Indicator reading varies according to the temperature.
